It's been 2 months!

Things are going well, the first floor is almost framed. Considering that we've never undertaken this kind of task before, we have been very fortunate. There have only been a few snags here and there (knock on wood!), weather setbacks, etc., but nothing too crazy.

Today, the boss has stopped by to inspect progress... :)

Day 56--First Day of Framing

The framing crew arrived early this morning and started on the basement. It's finally starting to look like a house. By next friday, the basement and first floor should be finished. We brought Bailey out to see the property, inspect her new backyard, and she gave it a paws up!

Temporary Electric is installed.

Today we got temporary electric service installed, and first order of lumber has arrived. Tomorrow afternoon one more tractor-trailer of lumber is coming, which should include everything for the basement and first floor.
Also, tomorrow afternoon is the pre-construction meeting with Alvaro from AGI construction to make sure that everything is ready to go.

Framers coming Friday A.M.!

Cant wait!

Basement Slab

On this last Thursday the basement slab was poured, a total of 38 cubic yards of concrete. It looks great! After everything was finished, Felipe made some cuts in the concrete, so when it cracks (as concrete does) it will hopefully crack on the cut seams. We had some problems with our first electrician. We felt that he was trying to take advantage of us, so we found another contractor who seems very professional. We’re glad we were able to straighten this out now, rather than in the middle of electrical installation! On Friday we made our final list of all the windows and exterior doors, totaling 40 windows and 4 doors. We’ll be ordering our lumber package on Monday which we’re hoping will arrive on Wednesday night, the TGI floor system will be delivered Tuesday night, and framing should start Wednesday morning. As always, you can find the updated pictures on the yahoo server.

Started Waterproofing and Plumbing

Yesterday we started waterproofing the basement walls and installing the plumbing ground work. We applied three layers of water sealant almost 1/8 inch thick. I have three cans left, and maybe on Monday I will throw on one more coat! It only takes two hours to do it now when everything is open. Brian came in on Saturday to work on plumbing and should be finished by Monday. I’m not sure how everything else will be going, considering that we're supposed to get rain this whole coming week starting Tuesday night.
